I am a filmmaker and audiovisual artist currently based in Helsinki, Finland, but originally from a small, deranged town near the Russian border. From a place where true darkness exists even as the sun never sets.

My work could be described as “cinematic bass solos”, played with the ever-tightening rubber band between the consumer-human and the natural world. It is my way of finding luminous perspectives in this dark world.

How I worry about us, crazy beautiful humans! We are animals who have cut down so many trees that we’ve become blind to the fact that we still live in a forest. It is a vast, global forest where we’ve built cities, caves made of sticks and stones. We are storytelling apes who get everything from this forest, and when we die, we give everything back. Except the stories.

Now our collective story-well is poisoned with narratives about the individual, eternal life, and technological progress. We speak of the forest we live in as a service, even though we know this “service” will end if we don’t change our material-thirsty rituals.

At the same time, we live in a time of great discoveries about humanity. A new structure of feeling is brewing all around us. In the wind, there’s a promise of a next world.

Currently, I am developing my debut feature film(s). Also, I’m building a miniature fusion reactor out of gingerbread. Through one of these projects, I shall get the power needed for illuminating all that is worth preserving.
